What parents can expect

Adolescents will engage in 50 minute individual sessions, with occasional family meetings. There will be regular parent consultations, where parenting skills and support may be offered. A parent must be present for the first 5-10 minutes of the adolescent’s first visit.

While parents have the legal right to your minor client’s information, we ask that you respect the confidential client/counselor relationship in order for trust to be built. Your child’s counselor will inform you immediately if a significant concern arises.

Weekly sessions are recommended in the initial phase of the counseling process. Maintaining frequent, consistent contact helps to build trust and a therapeutic relationship. As progress is made, the frequency of sessions will be reduced to facilitate long-lasting positive change.
