If you are living by yourself during quarantine, you are likely realizing the importance of relationships. You understand how essential it is to have a healthy relationship with yourself and you see the significance of having others to connect with.
Connecting and communicating with others is the key to being happy and healthy. Living alone during quarantine doesn’t mean you are doomed to loneliness. It does mean, however, you have the opportunity to be more creative with the ways you engage with others.
Take social distanced walks with friends or family members who live close by.
Have regular FaceTime or Zoom calls with those who are important to you. Seeing each other is much better than just talking on the phone.
Play virtual games while on a virtual call with others. For an idea of a fun game to play, email me at ajgarcia@thrivecounsel.com.
Do social distanced hangouts with a small group of friends. Meet on a driveway, porch, or park and enjoy your time together.
Be honest with yourself and others about how challenging quarantine has been for you.
Make an effort to text friends every day. It can be easy to retreat into yourself and lose contact with others you are no longer seeing. Make sure to have constant communication.
If it hasn’t been part of your quarantine schedule, take time now to reach out to people in your life. Make it a routine to connect with family and friends. As we start to transition back into a new sense of normalcy, these relational strategies remain the cornerstones to a happy, healthy life.
